Who We Are
The Uplift Foundation of Nevada is a 501C3 nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of youth and their families in the Las Vegas Valley and Clark County. By developing and sustaining diverse partnerships, Uplift provides programming, services and support to young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. By lifting them up – through programs that promote academic success, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, financial literacy, safety awareness, experiential learning, a college-going mindset and career preparation – Uplift positively impacts the community’s quality of life.
History
The Uplift Foundation of Nevada formed in 2002 to radically energize a community outreach program they started in 1978 by the Kappa Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Its efforts were expansive, from financially supporting the Frontier Girls Scouts and providing food baskets for underprivileged families to mentoring and awarding college scholarships for youth. As an independent organization, Uplift aimed to establish and sustain diverse partnerships to aid its mission of empowering youth. The foundation was incorporated in Nevada in 2002. Today, Uplift provides year-round mentoring, large-scale annual youth conferences, thousands of dollars in college scholarships and much more.
