Nearly 200 Youth, Adults Schooled on Financial Literacy

Schooled on Financial Literacy… and Fun too!

More than 175 youth in the 6th-12th grades enjoyed a day of financial literacy training and fun during the 16th Annual Economic Summit and Student Leadership Conference. They learned about credit, budgeting, financial aid and scholarships, the business of music, the ins and outs of engineering and participated in an interactive exercise that tested their entrepreneurial skills.

Meantime, their parents got valuable information on applying for federal financial aid to pay for higher education as well as how to find and win college scholarships. Four lucky seniors walked away with $500 book scholarships for college, while dozens of students took more than $1,000 in prizes and gifts for be attentive and participatory. The annual event was an unqualified success.
