Money Smart: 2015 Economic Summit & Student Leadership Conference

Nearly 200 Clark County School District middle and high school students and their parents attended the 2015 Economic Summit & Student Leadership Conference on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Cheyenne campus of the College of Southern Nevada.

Money Smart Workshops

Workshops included “College Financial Aid and Admissions Tips,” “Careers in Business: Breaking the Glass Ceiling,” “Saving and Investing: How to Handle Your Money,” “Entrepreneurship 101: How to Start and Run a Successful Business,” and “Careers in Medicine.” Middle school workshops included “Growth Mindset” and “Writing from the Heart.” Parent workshops included “College: Getting There From Here” and “How to Manage Your Credit and Your Money.”

Anyone Can Be a Scientist

During lunch, students were treated to a workshop, “Anyone Can Be a Scientist,” an interactive presentation from Tyrone Ragsdale, a.k.a. Grand Hank. The afternoon activity featured Mad City Money, an interaction personal financial responsibility seminar run by the nonprofit Center for Financial Empowerment and SCE Federal Credit Union.
